Here’s the different ways you can listen to Back2Basics on RTE Pulse

Few people at RTE have seen an actual real record.

Back2Basics is a weekly show on RTE Pulse, the Irish national state broadcaster RTE’s dance music station. It is 100% live and 100% made using vinyl each week. Presented by Simon Palmer it features both new and old music: an eclectic mix of deep house, tech house, progressive house, breakbeat, old school. Check out this week’s show here.

Here’s how to listen to the show:

Listen Live

The show airs live 11pm (GMT) every Wednesday evening. It is broadcast across Ireland on the DAB digital radio frequencies. Here’s how to listen live:

a) A digital radio. Tune it to ‘RTE Pulse’. If you have digital radio in your the car, or to check if you have one, press the ‘Radio’ button to toggle from FM to digital channels on DAB.

b) The show and all of RTE’s other shows are also streamed live on the RTE website, just click the Listen Live tab (second in from the left at the top of this page) and go to the RTE Pulse logo or click this shortcut rte.ie/listen/pulse

c) You can also listen live via the RTE Radio App. Here is the link to the RTE Radio app on Apple itunes and Android – Google Play

d) Alternatively listen via another app such as the TuneIn radio app.

Listen Back

The last 12 months of Back2Basics’s previous show are available to listen to online via the RTE Radio Player. Here’s the instructions on how to listen back.

  1. Click ‘Listen Live’ second tab in on the top left. This opens the desktop version of the RTE Radio Player.
  2. Once the RTE Radio Player has opened it automatically defaults to RTE Radio One, which is full of music and chat that sounds like dust and cobwebs. To find previous episodes of Back2Basics you just need to hover your mouse over the boxed marked ‘search the player’, which turns from black to white when you hover over it. Click on the box (which now appears blank) and type ‘Back2basics’ into the box (without the apostrophes). Then hit ‘return’ to start the search.
  3. A list of all the RTE Player’s links to Back2Basics’s shows for the past year will appear, starting with the most recent. Click the triangle next to the show to listen to it. Or use the bar on the right and scroll down to go back and listen to previous shows.

Mixcloud

All of the shows are now also uploaded to Mixcloud.

You can listen via the Mixcloud app on Apple itunes or Google – Android. Just search ‘Back2Basics’.

You can also listen direct through either the desktop website via this link https://www.mixcloud.com/Back2BasicsDublin/.
