A new month and a new show This featured DJ Koze, Gorgon City, Michael Cassette, Lifelike and Kris Menace, M&M, a great remix of Hard-Fi, The Beach Boys ripped to bits and put back together by The Stanton Warriors, souped up Tone Loc and Cuba Computers.
This week’s show started with a classic from DJ Shadow, a hidden gem from Weather, Chaka Khan remixed by Derek Kaye, followed by Wankelmut, Solumun, The Ting Tings, Super Models From Paris, and Sandstorm.
This show opened with an acid house classic from The Beloved, before taking a contemporary turn with Haim remix, an extremely rare press of Talking Heads, Jamie XX, and Clean Bandit featuring Jess Glynne, before returning to old skool with a classic from Adamski featuring Seal. Finally by remembering the victims of the tragic shooting in Orlando the show finished with the greatest underground gay anthem of all time.
On Back2Basics we just don’t play you bog standard old classics, we like to focus on the more underground gems or mixes you might not of heard. This week’s was one of this show’s – check it out below:
This week’s show was back to full on in your face old school belters – the demons were well and truly released. These were the records that used to keep a packed, sweaty club going at full tilt all night at the dawn of the nineties. The older heads amongst you will recognise Marathon, Unity, Sub Sub, 2 For Joy, Jazz and The Brothers Grimm and The Love Decade. There was also a hat-tip to this year’s Glastonbury with some rare New Order and Underworld.
